Styrene is produced and used all across the United States and around the world. Every U.S. state has some jobs related to styrene. The states that contribute the largest numbers of jobs related to producing styrene-based products include California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virginia. Across the country, more than 5,000 manufacturing plants produce or fabricate styrene products and employ about 90,000 material workers. As many as 750,000 jobs across the nation are related to the production, fabrication, installation or sales of these goods. Many operations that use styrene are small, local manufacturing businesses that have been mainstays of their local communities for many years.
